Photos: PHOTOTEK.NZ Engines roar over two days A jet car, dragsters and thousands of hot rods brought more than 40,000 people to The Sound Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival atKumeu during the weekend. ‘‘It was an awesome weekend,’’ event co-organiser Desma Galvin of Huapai says. ‘‘Saturday was packed to the rafters – it far exceeded expectations.’’ Overall, the 21st show was one of the best yet, a great success, she says. Traffic issues which developed on Saturday morning were quickly resolved. The weather was brilliant for most of the weekend with only a short shower hitting the show on Saturday evening. Galvin says the feedback has been very good and bodes well for next year. Howard and Carol Bond of Howick won the People’s Choice and Best Hot Rod awards.
