HIPPY hops to new premises HIPPY kids have found a new place to learn. The education pro- gramme recently moved from Helensville Pri- mary School to Parakai Primary School. Home Interaction Pro- gramme for Parents and Youngsters co-ordinator Bernie Malizia says the Parakai School staff and children have been great. New entrant teacher Jackie Silby says HIPPY kids stand out as confi- dent learners, have excellent listening and problem solving skills, and enjoy trying new things. The HIPPY children also impressed HIPPY New Zealand regional co- ordinator Margaret Fitz- gibbon who was on a special visit. The programme en- courages parents to be their child's first teacher. HIPPY co-ordinator Bernie Malizia says: By working together on the HIPPY activities for 15 to 20 minutes each day, parents give their chil- dren quality time as well as giving them a great start with their edu- cation.'' Enrolments for the 2011 intake start next month. Children need to be aged three or four as of March 2011 to be eligible. Phone Bernie on (09) 420-7434.
