Highest award given Stephanie Townend has been honoured with the highest St John award for a youth cadet. From the Kumeu youth division, Steph- anie was presented with the Grand Prior award from Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Satyanand, performing one of their final ceremonial duties. Stephanie was one of 36 youth from the St John northern region to receive their certificates and badges. The award is the only youth badge to be worn on an adult St John uni- form. We offer a huge choice of badges within our youth programme but first aid, health care and community awareness must be among the 12 attained to qualify for a Grand Prior's award. Cattle on show Gentle giants: Check out Scottish Highland cattle at Open Fold day on April 17. Fancy brushing, pat- ting or getting a closer look at some huge beasts? The New Zealand Highland Cattle Society hosts a national open fold day on Sunday. Scottish Highland cattle events will be held in Kaukapakapa, Makarau and Wark- worth with more than 200 on display. Doug and Jenny Sheldon of Eadon Highland Cattle Fold in Kaukapakapa and James and Fay Cameron of Clan Cameron Fold are active in showing their cattle, including at Helensville and Kumeu shows. They will also attend this month's Easter Show. Franz and Diane Edgar in Warkworth have also started taking their cattle to shows including Whangarei. The Kaukapakapa and Makarau folds have a large mix of cattle representing all colours -- red, black, yellow, brindle, dun, and white.
