Parting look: Despite the ''clown- like'' comments from his work mates, Todd Darvill enjoys getting his hair shaved by Massey hairdresser Donna Quinn. By RANI TIMOTI A fundraising campaign for the Leukaemia & Blood Foun- dation has nor-west residents losing their hair. A number of staff from Wai- mauku s Matua Winery had their hair shaved for the nation-wide Shave for a Cure event. The company stepped in with a pledge of $50 for each staff member, and the final tally was $1857.50. Kathryn says their close- knit team held the fundraiser despite the busy vintage season. She says most staff members know someone who has cancer or who is in remission. Massey hairdresser Donna Quinn donated her time for the event. Matua staff who now have the cool look include James Pritchard, Robbie Harris, Todd Darvill, Morgan Lowe, Chris Longville, Joel and Eliki King, Bryce Steel, Cham Burnett, Mike Perrett, Ian Fryer, Omri Yahel and Mat- thew Eddy. Shaving is a bold but simple way of supporting those living with blood cancers such as leu- kaemia and lymphoma -- many of whom lose their hair as a result of treatments such as chemotherapy and radio- therapy. It is so incredibly heartening to see so many people from all walks of life sign up to shave this year. This is our largest fundraiser for the year so we are just delighted with this level of participation, Leu- kaemia & Blood Foundation executive director Pru Etcheverry says.
