Exercise for your health's sake Kumeu Physio: Pictured are therapists Ann, Diane and Karen. No matter what your age or your physical con- dition, regular exercise will improve your fitness and help you live a longer, healthier life. Most people are already aware of this -- but when it comes to actually doing exercise, it s often a different story. Kumeu Physiotherapy is looking into starting circuit-style group exer- cise sessions in the near future. These sessions would target specific situations and conditions -- for example, people who need to lose weight, people with arthritis, women who have recently given birth, and people who are recover- ing from strokes. And if you say I m too old for that , well, the team at Kumeu Physio beg to differ. People of any age can benefit from regular exercise tailored to their needs and abilities -- and the younger you start, the better your chances of maintaining a healthy body later in life. With the population ageing and the pressure on health care funding, looking after your own health has never been more important -- and it s not that difficult! Diabetes, vascular dis- ease, depression, obesity, arthritis, osteoporosis -- these are just a few of the common conditions that can be prevented, managed or significantly improved with regular exercise. Group exercise sessions can be more effective than exercising on your own at home. Exercising with a group gives you more motiv- ation to stick with it, as well as the benefits of social contact. If you would like to join a group exercise class, or find out more about the classes, give Kumeu Physio a call on 09-412-9063. Located at 325 State Highway 16, Huapai, Kumeu Physiotherapy offers appointments during normal business hours plus late nights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays till 7pm and Saturday mornings.
