With spring growth now well under way, there is still time to deal with pasture weeds so that you get maximum benefit from your pas- ture. As Stu at Chestnut Contracting says, there is still time over the next two to three weeks to have pasture weed con- trol done. After that time, Stu will start spraying gorse and blackberry for customers -- a job which can be done any time up to April or May, depend- ding on weather con- ditions. From late March Stu will start pasture spraying jobs in prep- aration for regrassing, working with contractors who specialise in this service. He also does fertiliser applications -- and he points out that it s still not too late to apply fer- tiliser to boost spring growth. Another service pro- vided by Chestnut Con- tracting is wetland planting, for landowners who want to establish native plants in wetland areas. This can be done any time between now and April to take advantage of the growing season, as moisture is always avail- able for the new plant- ings. Stu can source native plants for customers if needed. Stu has been operating Chestnut Contracting for over 10 years. He is a registered contractor with an Approved Handlers Certificate authorising agricultural chemicals. He prepares a spray plan for every job, identifying sensitive areas as well as giving notice of the work to be done to neighbours and to any horticultural properties in the immediate area. Stu works with prop- erty owners to help them achieve their long term goals in pasture improvement. His customers include farmers and lifestyle block owners throughout the Northwest including the Kaukapakapa and Waitoki areas. For quotes and further information, phone Stu on 412-6360 or 027-446-2255, or visit www.chestnutcontract ing.co.nz.
