Plan your trip, tell someone your plans, be aware of the weather, know your limits and take sufficient supplies, the New Zealand Moun- tain Safety Council chief executive Darryl Carpen- ter says. Rural women awards Prizes are available for women run- ning small rural businesses in the nor- west. Entries are now open for the RWNZ Enterprising Rural Women Award 2012. Past winners in the fourth event include an animal homeopathy busi- ness, a traditional cheesemaker and a children s merino sock producer. Featured this year are three categories -- The Telecom North Island award, the Access Homehealth South Island award and the new Fly Buys Online Business award which recog- nises the growth of internet-based businesses. Each category winner will net $1000. The supreme winner will receive another $1000 and a trophy. Friendly bowling club A warm welcome awaits visitors and prospective members to the Kumeu Indoor Bowling Club s season which starts on February 13.
